It was my first year doing Yuletide, and I had quite a good reception, I thought.

I mean, it was the third-most-read story this Yuletide, so I think that's a pretty great first time! (I just got to the L fandoms in my Yuletide reading, which is why I had the numbers handy. And I have your story open and am excited to read it :))

No this is me being sane, rest assured I have looked at the stats a LOT. (#2 to #5 last I checked/depending on the metric?) It's just not attractive to be like BITCHES I DID WELLLLLLL :p

Haha, I am constantly checking my yuletide stats etc so I always want to puncture other people's veils of modesty so that I feel less ridiculous. I remember back in the day I would look at the 'my guests' LJ feature to try and get a sense of how many people were looking at my journal right after I had posted a fic. It is either for the better or the much worse for me that AO3 makes it so much easier to quantify and compare hit-counts.
